Fidesz To Form Parliamentary Group On May 5 In Hungary
Deputies of Hungary’s Fidesz will hold their first meeting on May 5, Antal Rogán said. Hungary’s new parliament will convene for its first session on May 6. Rogán, who has headed the Fidesz parliamentary group for the past four years, noted that his party would have 117 members in the new parliament, while the allied Christian Democrats (KDNP) will be represented by 16 lawmakers.

The new parliament sticks to the old rubric of five deputy speakers, two nominated by Fidesz and one each by the co-ruling Christian Democrats, the Socialists and the radical nationalist Jobbik, he added.

The ruling party is proposing setting up fourteen or fifteen parliamentary committees.

He said the supermajority would not insist on having the 2/3 and 1/3 proportions within the bodies.

Five of the committees can be headed by an opposition lawmaker, he said.
