Mediawave Gathering In Fort Monostor, Hungary, 29 April -  3 May
Visitors can rediscover the world at the concerts of the Gathering. Beside exotic artists like authentic flamenco musicians from Andalusia, and a throat singer from Altai, Siberia, the traditions of South-Slovakia will be revealed by folk dancers and musicians. Elliott Sharp and The Thing, a Three-day Mayday, and free programs at the shore of Danube, at Fort Monostor in Komárom (HU) from 29 April till 3 May.

For the film program, the pre-jury selected altogether 119 films for screening. The international program features 88 films, while the Hungarian presents 31 movies. The films will be evaluated by an international jury. The Mediawave ’On the Road’ Online Film Festival’s awarded films will be presented within the Gathering’s program. The online festival’s program is available on the Mediawave web page till April 30.

As part of the music program ’Occupy Mediawave’ project is to be launched. Several great musicians are about to occupy the abandoned Fort’s acoustic halls with their irregular concerts. Occupy Mediawave 14’ is a symbolic demonstration in the spirit of the international Occupy movement. The participating musicians will perform in formations set up in a spontaneous manner at unexpected points of the casemate system.

Mediawave organizers have found members of the Davinia Jaén Flamenco Group in Jerez, also referred to as the home of flamenco. And since the group’s home will be the Fort at least for a few days, all visitors may enjoy the fresh air of southern Iberian music, dance, mood, and gastronomy.

Programs outside the walls of the fortress will be free this year. Beside concerts by the Danube riverside and the various family programs you can see a Japanese ninja, a street comedy, not to mention the usual May-Pole standing on the 30th accompanied by traditional village music.

Swapping! If you bring, you can take! The organizers will help the visitors to find each other with their swapping goods. The closing day is a swap market party connected to the cooking competition with products, home-made stuff, books, CD’s and clothes, and so on.
