Hungary’s National Mobile Payment System To Go Live On July 1
A state-run national mobile payment system that allows motorists to pay for parking and motorways will be introduced across Hungary from July 1. The IT system was completed two weeks ago and tests are under way with the involvement of parking service providers and mobile payment operators, Nemzeti Mobilfizetési Zrt (NMFR), the state company overseeing the project, said.

NMFR will be the sole collector of fees; companies that offer mobile payment services will operate as resellers. Parliament passed the related law in late 2011 but the system’s launch date in October 2012 was repeatedly delayed.
