Hungary’s New State Sec Outlines Plans To Improve Health Care
A proposal for how to improve the state of affairs in Hungary’s healthcare sector will be prepared in the summer, the state secretary for health, Gábor Zombor, told a conference.

The problems of the country’s health care have reached a “policy threshold” which must be crossed in the upcoming period by producing an “acceptable, long-term solution,” the official whose remit falls under the ministry of human resources said, adding the aim was to conclude the process in time for the autumn session of parliament.

He noted that the government is tasked by the fundamental law with funding the system.

Zombor said the health-care system should be more stable, more sustainable and provide better quality care. At present there is a technological lag in the sector and a “crisis” in terms of human resources.

Health care is overregulated and burdened by red tape, which diverts the attention of doctors away from their core duties. So cutting bureaucracy will be a priority, he added.
