Represent Hungary’s Interests At Bilderberg, Fidesz Tells Bajnai
The ruling Fidesz party wants all Hungary’s politicians to represent the country’s interests when they are abroad, group leader Antal Rogán said, commenting on opposition E-PM leader Gordon Bajnai’s invitation to a meeting of the Bilderberg Group in Denmark. In response to a question about Bajnai’s invitation to the meeting, Rogán told a press conference that regardless of political affiliation, Hungarian politicians should represent Hungary’s interests and it would be unacceptable for anyone to do otherwise.

Fidesz deputy leader Lajos Kósa said that the Bilderberg Group claims the world’s most influential people gather at its conferences. However, if they thought of nobody else but Bajnai from Hungary, then they are “all-talkno- action club.” The Bilderberg Group is an annual private conference of political leaders, financial experts and bankers and the details of their meeting are kept confidential.

In response to Fidesz’s call, co-leader of E-PM Viktor Szigetvári agreed with the idea to uphold the country’s interests, adding that he was certain that János Martonyi, Hungary’s outgoing foreign minister, had done so when he attended a Bilderberg conference back in 2008. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, however, should have considered Hungary’s interests before “selling off the country’s energy independence to the Russians,” he said.
