Századvég, British Embassy Conference On EU Prospects In Budapest
The warning signs in the outcome of the recent European parliamentary elections must not be ignored, the foreign ministry’s state secretary for EU affairs told an international conference in Budapest.

Addressing the conference entitled “EU Reform: a more competitive, flexible and democratically accountable EU,” Enikő Győri said in order to restore people’s trust in the EU member states should reach a consensus on common objectives.

She called for respecting EU treaties and focusing on subsidiarity, as well as maintaining the bloc’s integrity.

These objectives can be best served through efficient cooperation by strong institutions and strong member states, Győri told the conference cohosted by the Századvég Foundation and the British Embassy.
