Revenue Growth At Telenor Hungary
Increasing revenues, growing smartphones sales, continued mobile internet growth characterize Telenor Hungary’s performance in the second quarter of 2014. The number of mobile internet customers increased by 253,000 compared to the same period of last year and the small screen mobile internet subscriber base grew by over 40%. More customers upgraded their subscriptions to unlimited packages and opted for small screen data due to the worry-free trial offers under the Telenor Próba promotion.

“We are very pleased that our flexible offers, innovative services and superfast network proved to be attractive and more customers opted for upgrading their subscriptions or purchasing new smartphones from us. We will continue to extend the benefits of Hipernet and help our customers to get the most out of it through our innovative offers and solutions”, commented Christopher Laska, CEO of Telenor Hungary.

* Revenue in Q2 2014 increased by HUF 0.7bn in comparison to last year’s same period. The increase was driven by smartphone sales and some positive one-off items,

* EBIT deteriorated in Q2 2014 compared to prior year due to higher depreciation costs.
* Capital expenditure – excluding licenses - increased by HUF 1bn driven by 4G rollout and related transmission investments
* The number of subscriptions has decreased by 34k during the quarter reaching a closing balance of 3,435 thousand, due to a governmental tender. Closing market share (of used cards) by the end of Q2 2014 was 31.03%.
