August 20 Greetings Sent By Pope Francis To Hungary
Pope Francis has sent greetings to Hungarian President János Áder and all Hungarians on the occasion of the country’s August 20 national holiday, Áder’s office told MTI on Monday. “I am pleased to send cordial greetings to Your Excellency and to all the beloved citizens of Hungary on this happy occasion of your National Day, under the patronage of Saint Stephen,” the Pope said in his letter.

“Entrusting the Nation to the loving providence of Almighty God, I pray that all Hungarians will continue to promote a society built on truth, justice and integrity,” the Catholic leader said. August 20 is a national holiday celebrating Hungary’s statehood.

The Hungarian state was founded by King Stephen I in 1000.
