Boban & Marko Markovic Orchestra, Margaret Island Budapest, 10 August
To claim that perhaps Europe’s most popular brass band will give a concert on Margaret Island, would be no exaggeration. Boban and his son Marko have achieved everything that an orchestra can achieve in this corner of the world; hundreds of thousands of records sold and hundreds of club-and festival performances. No matter what country in Europe they jam in, tens of thousands of fans follow their performances.

Boban Markovic left his first trumpet in the sand while he played ball with his friends and would rather have been a soccer player than a musician. His father sat him down at the age of 10 and told him that his destiny was to play the trumpet. That was 40 years ago.

The bonus of this year’s Budapest grand concert is that Boban Markovic is celebrating his 50th birthday this year. It’s a round number anniversary for the Balkan trumpet king whose favorite country is Hungary. He gave the most beautiful performances of his life here, he gave most of his performances here and here is where his concerts generate the most excitement.

Be a part of the jam session celebration with the eternally young Boban Markovic and his Orchestra’s summer concert! Let them lead you into a sultry Balkan world where Serbian, Turkish, Gypsy, and Jewish musical elements intertwine in their improvisations.
