Engineering Firm Wins Planning Contract For Metro Line 3 In Budapest
Planning work for the reconstruction of Budapest’s metro line 3 will start this week after engineering firm Főmterv won the planning contract in a public procurement tender called by the Budapest Transport Centre (BKK), daily Magyar Nemzet said.

Citing an internal source at the BKK, the paper said the Budapest City Council has accepted the offer with the lowest price quote of 1.8 billion forints, of which more than 600 million forints will be funded by the European Union.

Financing the costs of the total reconstruction of the line, estimated at 160-200 billion forints, still depends on the government’s decision. The government is expected to discuss the matter on Wednesday.
