Hungary’s MOL & INA End Media Dispute

  • 2 Sep 2014 9:00 AM
MOL and the Croatian government issued a joint announcement yesterday, ending their recent public dispute over an interim ruling by an international court of arbitration in Switzerland.

Croatian sources claimed last week that the UN Commission on International Trade Law (Uncitral) had imposed a ban on the sale of MOL’s shares in energy company INA, in an August 16 ruling. MOL denied this.

The joint statement states that MOL may sell its shares, but any buyer must abide by any final ruling by Uncitral.

In addition, the tribunal said “MOL must so exercise its various rights, including relating to its shares in INA, so as to ensure at all times that it acts in the best commercial interests of INA”.

The court also instructed MOL and Croatia to agree not to discuss the matter any further in public.
