Hungary’s Population Decline Eases In Jan-Oct

The rate of Hungary’s population decline eased from the previous year in the January-October period, the Central Statistical Office said on Tuesday.
The annual birth rate increased by 3% while deaths declined by 2.4%. In absolute terms, however, deaths (92,464) outpaced births (68,119).
The population shrank by 24,345, which was 4,242 less than in the period a year earlier.
Hungary’s population stood at 9,877,365 on January 1, 2014. It fell below 10 million in August 2010.
