NAV Employee Suspected Of Corruption Reported To Police
An employee of Hungary’s tax office (NAV) suspected of corruption has been reported to the police, tabloid Blikk reported. The paper quoted a contractor who asked to remain anonymous referring to a recording which implicates the NAV employee in corruption.

“The lady not only offered to give the companies subject to an investigation for accumulating serious tax arrears the state of play and results [of the investigation] in exchange for hundreds of thousands of forints but also offered to [eliminate the tax arrears],” the paper cited the source as saying.

The contractor told the paper that ever since reporting the suspicions to police, they had received several phone threats.

NAV told Blikk that a tax office unit had received a report from a whistleblower, which the security department is currently examining.

It added a NAV employee had reported a case of blackmail and slander to the police, which forwarded this information to the employee’s bosses.
