Retail Food Sales In Hungary Climb 5%
Retail food sales in Hungary rose 5% in the twelve months to November from a year earlier, market research company Nielsen said. In absolute terms, revenue came to 1,465 billion forints during the period.

Sales of cheese rose 10%, carbonated beverage sales climbed 5% and sales of energy drinks were up 16%. Sales volume rose 4%, Nielsen said.

Market share of supermarkets and discount stores between 401 and 2,500 square metres edged up to 38% from 36%, while the share of stores larger than 2,500 square metres slipped to 28% from 30%.

Stores below 200 square metres accounted for 26% of sales, unchanged from a year earlier.
