English School Of Budapest: UK Comic Relief Charity Project
The English School of Budapest took part in the UK Comic Relief charity project “Make Your Face Funny for Money” between 16 and 20 March. The money raised was donated to the Piros Orr Bohócdoktorok Alapítvány (Red Nose Clown Doctors Foundation). As in schools across the UK, our children painted their faces and used wigs, hats and props to take souvenir photos, while their parents donated money and baked funny face cakes for a childrens’ cake sale.

The week culminated in a joint English comedy afternoon with Baberliget Primary school, who also donated to the charity.
The English School of Budapest (ESB) and the Baberliget Primary School share the same building on Tarogato ut., as well as sharing several students, and this was their first joint project.

ESB students performed English jokes and comic poetry, which they are preparing for their school poetry recital competition final on 27 March. Baberliget School inaugurated their school stage by performing a short comedy drama about the Fall of Troy. The afternoon was attended by students and parents of both ESB and Baberliget schools and by Ms Zsuzsa Magyar, representing the Piros Orr Bohócdoktorok Alapítvány

The English comedy afternoon closed with a power point showing what ESB Foundation, Literacy and Native Speaker students had done in class to celebrate English comedy and to raise money. The School Director presented the money raised to Zsuzsa Magyar, and then gave the Baberliget students a souvenir English joke bookmark. Finally, the audience and the children were then invited to enjoy some Funny Face cakes.

The English School of Budapest offers British education in English language and literacy with native speaker primary and secondary teachers, to students learning English and to English native speaker students in Budapest.

Please note: English School of Budapest is formerly known as English Learning Centre
