Autoliv Creates 700 New Jobs In Hungary
Swedish automotive safety manufacture Autoliv will create 700 new jobs in Hungary by expanding its seatbelt manufacturing plant in Sopronkövesd. The decision was announced on 23 February at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Budapest.

A new unit of 15 000 square meters is planned to be added to the current production plant of 19 000 square meters. The Hungarian government will contribute with 1.5 billion Ft. to the investment that is worth 11 billion Ft.

The new unit is expected to be constructed by 2018 and will double Autoliv´s capacity to 40 million seatbelts per year, which will make the seatbelt manufacturing plant the largest in Europe.

Autoliv’s Vice President responsible for European seatbelt production, Frank Kohrs thanked the Hungarian government as well as the local government of Sopronkövesd for supporting the expansion.

Autoliv has been represented in Hungary since 1993 and currently provides 1760 jobs in the country. The manufacturing plant of Sopronkövesd is a supplier of Audi, BMW, Daimler, Volvo or Volkswagen among others.
