IHBC Sunday Hike Pomaz To Piliszentlaszlo, 10 May
This walk is a little different to previous walks as I’ve not taken you on this route to Piliszentlaszlo through the wonderful Pilis Hills. Suitable for all, including families with active children; dogs are also welcome. Remember, this is an all-day event. Please note: the final route will be finalised on the day, depending on numbers. Meeting point will be at Margit híd HÉV 5 ticket office at 10:30am.

The train leaves at 10:58am according to the BKK website.

The route we have planned is approx 15 km depending on weather conditions and will take around 3 to 4 hours starting from Pomaz HÉV station.

It’s a challenging walk but beautiful with fantastic views, ancient forest, springs, streams, and birds of prey.
Once at Piliszentlaszlo we arrive at the Kis Rigo restaurant, a family- run Hungarian Vendéglö at the end of the trail.

Please confirm if you want to eat. We need to know numbers as we have to book in advance; this place is popular with hikers and mountain bikers.

Price of a soup and / or a main course and a drink is around 2000-3000 HUF

Depending on the weather, suitable hiking boots will be needed as there has been rain in the hills that has made some of the trails a little muddy and slippery. Hiking sticks will also be handy to have. As this hike can take between 3 to 4 hours make sure you have plenty of water, a flask of tea or coffee and snacks.

REMEMBER: 10:30am start from Margit Híd HÉV train stop.

You can buy the ticket from Bekasmegyer onwards onboard the train but you MUST have a valid ticket or pass for the journey inside the Budapest boundary. Please also make sure you have small change for the train. Train leaves at 10:58 according to the BKK website.

Journey time to Pomaz from Margit híd 32 minutes by HÉV

After lunch we can walk to the local Volan bus service in the village centre, less than 1 km from the restaurant, returning to Szentendre Bus / HEV station and back to Budapest by HEV.
