Hungarian Gov’t Preparing Anti-Immigrant Ad Campaign
Billboards now being prepared for a government campaign to promote the national consultation on migrants declare “If you come to Hungary, you cannot take Hungarian jobs,” news website Index reports. The posters advertise the “national consultation on immigrants and terrorism”.

Government spokesman Zoltán Kovács announced on Sunday that only 200,000 of the questionnaires sent to Hungarian households had been returned to date.

He said yesterday that the information campaign “draws attention to basic principles of the cabinet. These include the stipulation that anyone who arrives in Hungary must respect the culture and laws of the country and the EU and must not jeopardise Hungarian jobs”.

Kovács said the message is aimed at illegal border entrants, but the poster in the photograph sent in by an Index reader is only in Hungarian.

Index reports that the campaign will be concentrated near Hungary’s southern borders.

Together said it is organising a movement to tear down the posters if they are indeed posted on public areas.
