Hungarians Travel More, Spend More Abroad
- 14 Jun 2015 9:00 AM
In the first quarter of this year, Hungarians paid a total 3.6 million visits to other countries, 5.4% up from the same period last year, according to Central Statistical Office (KSH) data. Spending by those Hungarian visitors amounted to 125 billion forints (EUR 400m), up 13% compared to 2014.
The report noted that it was the number of longer visits which accounted for the increase, while single-day trips, mostly to Austria and Slovakia, had dropped in the January-March period.
Over 50% of the trips were made by tourists, 15 percentage points up from 2014.
