Hungary, Egypt Look To Boost Economic Ties
Economic relations between Hungary and Egypt demonstrate strong growth potential, foreign ministry state secretary Levente Magyar said. Hungary sees Egypt as a strategic partner of prime importance, Magyar said at a joint press conference with Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation Naglaa El Ahwany, held after a meeting of the Hungarian- Egyptian Joint Economic Committee in Budapest.

El Ahwany said Egypt has the political will for strengthening ties with Hungary, adding that her country appreciates the fact that Hungary stood by Egypt’s side in difficult times, and continues to support the country on political and economic levels, as well as in its fight against terrorism.

The meeting centred on cooperation in the fields of trade, industry, investment, energy, agriculture, tourism, water management, education, health-care and IT.

The two sides signed declarations of intent on water management and irrigation, on cooperation in agriculture, and on the area of sport.

Magyar said Egypt is now a stable and predictable country, and a safe destination for Hungarian tourists. El Ahwany noted that Hungary-Egypt relations go back 50-60 years, adding that the Egyptian economy has a lot to offer to private companies.
