Hungarian, Turkish Brain Scientists Join Forces To Study Alzheimer’s
A Hungarian and Turkish team of brain scientists have launched a joint research programme focusing on Alzheimer’s disease, a neurobiologist at the co-partnering Pécs University’s research centre said. This is the first time that Hungarian- Turkish brain research is being carried out in cooperation with a research centre at Istambul Kültür University, István Hernádi told a press conference in Pécs.

The two teams are looking into the background of neuro-degenerative diseases, he said.

The Turkish team has several decades of expertise in the clinical research of Alzheimer’s disease, while the Hungarian university excels in basic research and pre-clinical study, Hernádi said.

The programme is scheduled to span 3-5 years and the teams plan to apply for funding from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and other sources, the neurobiologist said.
