Jobbik Calls Hungarian Govt Plans For Border Police “Bluff”
The government’s plans to set up border police units to prevent illegal migrants from entering Hungary are not even sufficient to be called “displacement activity” and can only be interpreted as “bluff”, the radical nationalist Jobbik party said. Party spokesman Ádám Mirkóczki said that instead of setting up teams within the existing police force to work along the southern borders, a dedicated border guard should be reinstated.

Implementing the government’s current plans would involve drawing away police from other parts of the country, he added.

Jobbik expressed agreement with plans to prohibit illegal border crossing and introduce stricter regulations in the penal code.

However, the party said those who enter the border illegally should be expelled with immediate effect.

The fence along the border with Serbia needs to be reinforced and Hungary should in any case cancel the Dublin Regulation.

Refugee reception centres should be transformed into closed facilities and new ones should only be set up after local referendums, Mirkóczki said.
