English Stand Up Comedy, Brody House, 7 October
Give your laughing gear a workout with a healthy dose of English humour featuring the return of regular host Dave Thompson and international funny men Wes Zaharuk and Matthew Baylis. Early in his career Zaharuk’s razor wit and tornado-like approach to comedy caught on quickly. Soon he was tearing up the North American comedy circuit and has since brought his eccentric collection of prop tricks to all corners of the globe.

About the use of props in his performance Wes quips: ‘Show business sometimes lures people who didn’t get enough love early in life. I feel as a child I didn’t get enough unsupervised time with power tools but who has perfect parents?’ Described by Channel 4 as a “rib-tickling dive into the surreal”, expect the unexpected.

Matthew has travelled the globe with his own unique brand of unashamedly middle class comedy, sharing stories of growing up and getting old in the leafy suburbs of middle England. With more than half a decade on the comedy circuit he has gigged with the great and the good of UK comedy including Harry Hill, Milton Jones, Andy Parsons, Kevin Bridges and many others. As a father of six he draws much of his humour from tales of parenthood which ring true with audiences of all ages.

Dave shot to fame playing Tinky Winky in the Teletubbies and most recently featured in Harry Hill’s DVD ‘Sausage Time’. He has done four feature films which include playing Dave the comedian in ‘Maybe Baby’, written and directed by Ben Elton, and the porn star in ‘I want Candy’ directed by Stephen Surgit (unfortunately his scene didn’t make the final edit)

Wes Zaharuk described as “Twin Peaks meets Cirque Du Soleil” – Toronto Sun
“Matthew’s dry wit and razor-sharp crowd-work keep audiences feeling as if they are indulging in their favourite guilty pleasure.” – The Gazette

“Dave is one of the finest joke writers in the country” – Time Out
