4DSOUND: Spatial Sound Exhibition, Art Quarter Budapest, 16 - 17 October
In collaboration with CAFe Contemporary Art Festival Budapest, 4DSOUND is excited to announce the opening of the Institute of Spatial Sound – a new global center for research and development in the field of spatial sound and immersive sonic environments. On Friday 16th and Saturday 17th of October we celebrate the inauguration of the new space at Art Quarter Budapest with a sound exhibition, including live-shows and lectures, featuring a range of artistic collaborators from the field of music, visual art and immersive technologies.

During the past eight years, 4DSOUND has been developing innovative technology to create, perform and experience sound spatially. 4DSOUND enables you to hear sound in a virtually unlimited spatial continuum.

Sound can move infinitely distant or intimately close it moves around, as well as above, beneath, in between or right through you. Led by your ears, you’re encouraged to explore the space. You can move between blocks of sound, touch lines of sound and walk through walls of sound.

After 4DSOUND's acclaimed artist presentations shown during the previous year at international festivals such as Berlin Atonal, Amsterdam Dance Event and TodaysArt, this event will be the premiere showing of 4DSOUND in Hungary. 4DSOUND has recently moved its headquarters to Art Quarter Budapest to develop a new permanent spatial sound studio, project space and artist residencies.

The two-days exhibition forms a retrospective of works created especially for 4DSOUND during the past four years, by artists such as Max Cooper, Murcof, Thomas Vacquie and Marco Ciciliani. The grand opening on Friday night will include live-shows by Marcel Wierckx, Frank Bretschneider and a world premiere by the young Hungarian electronic musician Gabor Lazar. On Saturday afternoon, a variety of lectures will create an in-depth perspective on 4DSOUND's vision and philosophy of spatial sound.
