Govt To Finance Electric Buses For Budapest
The economy minister signed a financing agreement with Budapest’s public transport company BKV, under which 20 Hungarian-made electric midibuses and the necessary charger technology will be purchased. Addressing the ceremony, Mihály Varga hailed the beginning of a “new era” in the city’s transport, benefiting “the people of Budapest, Hungarian industry and busmaking”.

Under the agreement, the government will provide a grant of 4 billion forints (EUR 12.6m) to purchase the buses.

The new vehicles will be put into service before mid-May next year.
