Lázár: Hungarian Government Windows To Offer Tax Administration Services
The government plans to expand the role of so-called government windows—one-stop shops for citizens organising official paperwork—to also offer tax administration services, the government office chief said. The government’s aim in developing regional public administration is to enable people to start the administration process from home in an increasing number of cases, János Lázár said at the opening of a government window in Békés County in southeast Hungary.

A total of 110 laws have been amended since 2010 and administration fees will be reduced by 10 billion forints (EUR 32m) from 2016 in order to help citizens arrange matters faster, simpler and cheaper than before, he said.

The Prime Minister’s Office will support IT developments in government windows with 40 billion forints next year, he said, adding that expanding the functions of government windows to include tax administration services will be the most significant change in regional public administration since 1873.
