In Hungary only 6.3% of secondary school students aged between 11 and 14 learned two or more foreign languages, similar to Austria where their proportion was 9.5%, the survey conducted in 2014 showed.

In Hungary 90.2% of secondary school students learnt one foreign language in 2014 with a preference given to English or German.

Across the EU-28 bloc, the most popular foreign language was English, followed by French, German, Spanish, Russian and Italian, the survey showed.
