Socialists Find Buyer For Party HQ
The Socialist Party will sell its headquarters on Jókai utca in the Sixth District to Geoholding and publishing company Móra Könyvkiadó. Several publishing houses, a bookstore and a confectionery will open in the building.

The sale price is a secret, but Népszabadság reported that about Ft 800 million will change hands, roughly the same amount for which the Socialists acquired and renovated the building in 2009.

Geoholding will pay two-thirds of the price and Móra one-third.

The party bought the five-storey building for Ft 700 million and spent at least Ft 100 million on its renovation. However, the party could not pay the monthly Ft 10 million cost of maintaining the mortgaged building, and the number of staff working there fell below 40. They moved house about a year ago and the staff now work in the MPs Office building and in an office in Buda on Villányi út.
