According to szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu, Phyllis Nagy has been nominated for the best adopted screenplay for the film Carol. Thus, in addition to László Nemes Jeles’ Son of Saul you can root for another Hungarian-related film at night of February 28-29. The screenwriter of Hungarian origin told newspaper Bors that her grandfather was born in Hungary and he escaped to the USA in World War 2. Her mother was born there and married in New York.

The film’s story takes place during the economic boom of the 50s. Therese (Rooney Mara) is working as a saleswoman in one of the large Manhattan stores. One day she meets the upscale Carol (Cate Blanchett). Their early friendly relationship deepens.

The wealthy woman lives in an unhappy marriage, her only source of joy is her daughter. His husband becomes aware of the affair and questions the morality of his wife. In time, additional family secrets will be revealed,  szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu told.
