“Whisky Robber” Film In The Works
Shooting can start in late May for a movie relating the story of the “whisky robber” Attila Ambrus, who held up numerous banks and post offices in the 1990s and once escaped jail. He earned his nickname by stopping for a glass of whisky before committing his robberies.

The Hungarian National Film Fund is financing the production with Ft 1.1 billion.

Director Nimród Antal said the movie will provide an insight into the world of crime like popular Hollywood films Bonnie and Clyde in 1967 and The Godfather in 1972.

The film is meant to show how the media elevated a criminal into a tabloid hero in the 1990s, Antal added.
