MÁV To Spend HUF 30 Bln On Railroad Cars
Hungarian state-owned railway company MÁV-Start is planning to produce its own railway cars for approximately HUF 30 billion, Hungarian online daily origo.hu reported.

The per vehicle price will be approximately HUF 300 million, and the company is planning to create 100 models by 2019. These funds will be provided by the Hungarian state between 2016 and 2019, origo.hu reported, quoting a resolution published in official gazette Magyar Közlöny.

The highly anticipated IC+ model vehicles will be air conditioned and be able to run at speeds of up to 200 km/h. On the countryʼs newly renovated railways supported through EU funds, trains can travel up to 160 km/h in certain sections, however, not many trains currently operating on these lines are able to meet these speeds.

The production of the IC+ models has long been on the horizon for MÁV, which first announced plans to produce the railway cars in the spring of 2013, according to origo.hu
