Ritz-Carlton Opens In Budapest
The first Ritz-Carlton hotel in Hungary opened in downtown Budapest on Tuesday with 170 rooms and 30 suites in the building formerly occupied by Le Meridien hotel. The usual room price without discounts is €315 for the coming weekend, business news website Napi adds.

The hotel has five meeting rooms and a large ballroom for 180 guests.

The Al-Habtoor group, owner of the InterContinental Budapest, purchased the former Adria Insurance Company building in 2012, when it was a Le Meridien hotel operated by Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

The operating contract expired last year and was not renewed. Ritz-Carlton acquired the hotel last September and closed it in November for renovations.

Tourism in Hungary is growing spectacularly and Budapest is one of the most attractive cities in Europe, said sales director Farah Willey. The target for the first year is 60-70% occupancy, she added.
