Important Changes In Penalty Fare Process On BKV From May
The new tariff policy relating to the penalty fare process was adopted by the Municipality of Budapest on 31 March 2016. The policy will enter into force on 1 May 2016.

Three major changes relating to BKK’s tariff policy entered into effect on 1 May 2016 are, as follows:

• Two extra working days are provided for Customers to settle the on-the-spot penalty fare at the Surcharge Office (Budapest, 8th district, Akácfa utca 22.) after the penalty fare receipt was issued. This is a new policy. Currently, BKK Zrt. does not enable bankcard payment when the on-the-spot penalty fare receipt is issued, therefore a decision was made about the Customer-friendly payment. After the Automated Fare Collection Scheme has been introduced, payment options will be expanded through the hand-held devices at ticket inspectors enabling bankcard payment.

• Customers will be able to present their pass within five working days, instead of the currently two working days.

• From 1 May, presenting the pass does not depend on previous penalty fare processes. Previously, the option of presenting the pass was available to the customer only if s/he had no current debt due to a previous violation.

• BKK Centre for Budapest Transport has received observations regarding the above-detailed processes several times, which were taken into account while the process was modified. The aim of the changes is to expand and make the penalty fare payment options customer-friendly. In case the Customer subject to the penalty fare process does not settle the penalty fare, the claim will be pursued through legal processes.

Further changes:

• The dog pass is valid without an ID when the dog is transported.
• The Municipality of Budapest approved that Customers are not required to revalidate tickets valid for one trip (single tickets, block of ten tickets, transfer tickets) when transferring between tram line 1 and bus line 103, and they are allowed to travel in possession of the already validated tickets within the validity period.
• From 1 May, tickets for events (in case at least 50 slips are ordered at the same time) are on sale even for the period 11-14 days.

It will be more simple to use the bike pass since any Customer in possession of a valid BKK pass as well as Customers entitled to free travel can use it.
