Velence Residents Protest Beach Fee
Velence residents demonstrated in front of the local government building in Fejér county on Sunday because of plans to charge an admission fee for the beach on Lake Velence, RTL reported.

Fidesz mayor András Koszti promised earlier that the beach would remain free of charge.

Introducing entrance fees at the beach was necessary due to a changing legal and health environment, Koszti argued, but after the demonstration he stated that the local government will revise its decision.

Last year the state medical office Ántsz had suspended the operation of three free beaches, but after protests it did not close them, Népszabadság recalls.
