The flights take off on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in Canada and arrive in Budapest the next day.
The new air link is important not only for economic and tourism reasons, but also for nationality policy, as some 310,000 Hungarians live in Canada, 53,000 of them in Toronto, Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó said at the first landing ceremony.
The new flight covers existing demand as 91,000 Canadians arrived at Budapest Airport last year, said airport manager CEO Jost Lammers.
