Lidl Announces 15% Pay Increase
Lidl Magyarország will increase the wages of all of its non-executive staff by 15%, effective from July 1, the discount retail chain has announced. Lidl raised salaries by 5% as recently as March. About 90% of Lidl’s 4,000 employees will benefit from the new raise.

Spokeswoman Judit Tõzsér said Lidl recommends that a minimum wage be set for all retail workers, in order to protect them.

Lidl launched a health care plan for its staff on April 1, including screening and life and accident insurance policies.

From March, Lidl also offers 5-20% discounts to its employees at 45 shops that are co-operating with the chain.

After entering the country in 2004, Lidl now has 165 shops and three logistics centres in Hungary.
