Majority Of Hungarians Planning Summer Vacations
As many as two-thirds of Hungarians surveyed said they will take a summer vacation this year, up from 48% a year ago, according to a survey conducted by Budapest Bank, Hungarian News Agency MTI reported today.

Average households will spend the same budget as last year for travel – approximately HUF 150,000 in total or HUF 8,000 per person per night.

Approximately 88% of respondents said they would use cash to pay for travel expenses, while 54% said they would pay with credit and debit cards, 27% with vouchers, and 18% through online transactions.

About 21% of respondents said they would be traveling abroad, and slightly less than two thirds will remain in Hungary. Of the respondents, 40% intend to visit Lake Balaton, up from last yearʼs 34%.

Approximately 83% of Hungarians traveling outside of the country will use foreign currency exchanged within Hungary while abroad.

Slightly more than half of Hungarian travelers will depart in July and August, and their trips will last an average of nine days.
