The number of electric vehicles rolling on Hungarian roads has increased almost threefold in half a year: up from January’s 361 to 932 by the end of the first half, Hungarian business daily Világgazdaság reported today citing government data.

Most of these vehicles are either in the capital or in the surroundings of Budapest, in the county of Pest, Péter Erdélyi, head of the Hungarian Association of Vehicle Importers, told the paper.

He recalled that the chief aim is to raise this number to 10,000 by 2020, although major investments are required to meet this target, such as installing more charging stations.
