Few Protest Demise Of Uber In Budapest
Only a few cars were observed protesting at Heroes Square in Budapest on Saturday on the last day of Uber’s operation in Hungary, Népszabadság reports.

Demonstrators demanded that the law which bans the operation of the mobile phone application based taxi service Uber in Hungary be revoked. “Uber will operate in Hungary, if not now then 15 years from now, operating autonomous cars”, one demonstrator said.

Uber drivers distributed literature promoting Taxify, the application of an Estonian company, which will launch a similar service in Hungary in August. Taxify will apply the official rates and use taxi cars.

Uber announced its withdrawal from Hungary on July 13, after Parliament approved a law blocking internet sites which offer illegal taxi services. Uber introduced its service in Budapest in 2014.
