Hungarian Govt Official Slams EU Migration Proposals
The European Commission “keeps pushing forced settlement” of migrants on EU member states, a state secretary of the prime minister’s office said in reaction to a new package of European proposals presented on Wednesday. The package, announced by Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos earlier in the day, is aimed at a common resettlement framework “to ensure orderly and safe pathways to Europe for persons in need of international protection”.

The EC has also proposed to complete changes to Europe’s asylum system “to move towards a fully efficient, fair and humane asylum policy”. State secretary Csaba Dömötör said it was “obvious” that those plans were aimed at allowing an easier entry into Europe rather than increasing border control.

Under the package, “Brussels would oblige all members to receive immigrants,” Dömötör insisted. He also suggested that “Brussels would set the number” of migrants for each country to receive, and called this “unacceptable”.

The package will not solve the migration crisis but create even more problems, the official said, and argued that the proposals were equal to an “invitation for further millions of migrants”.
