Official: Hungary Close To Bridging Health-Care Pay Gap
Recent and new wage hikes in the health-care sector will help Hungary close the pay gap with the other Visegrad Group countries, the state secretary for health care said. The base salary of doctors and pharmacists increased by gross 107,000 forints (EUR 348) from September 1 this year and will rise by another 100,000 forints from November 1, 2017, Zoltán Ónodi-Szűcs said.

The base salary of nurses and other special assistants was raised by 26.5% also from September this year, he noted. It will again be raised by 12% next November and by 8% both in 2018 and 2019, he said.

More than 97,000 health-care workers will receive increased base salaries early next month, the state secretary said.

The government reached an agreement with health-care unions on raising base salaries in the sector in June this year.
