Foreign Minister Szijjártó Denies Police Brutality Reports
Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó denied reports of police brutality against migrants when he appeared on BBC World’s “Hard Talk” programme on Thursday. He asserted that those who wrote the reports have either not visited Hungary, or if they have, they are lying.

Human Rights Watch and other rights groups have released documented reports of mistreatment of refugees by Hungarian police and border guards.

Reminded of this by interviewer Stephen Sackur, Szijjártó replied that many migrants had been violent toward police.
