Budapest Metro 3 Renovation To Wait Until June 2017
The renovation of Budapest’s busiest Metro Line 3, the running of which was interrupted recently due to emergency maintenance, is foreseen to start in June 2017, Budapest Mayor István Tarlós said on Friday, according to reports.

Answering a question at a press conference, the mayor said that a “realistic” start for the renovation was June next year. However, he added that further delays could possibly occur if bids submitted were not “more reasonable,” Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

The renovation of the metro line, which some experts have said is in a worrying condition, should have started this month, but the starting date was later postponed to February or March next year.

The Hungarian capital could face serious traffic jams if the renovation of its busiest Metro Line 3 is not solved properly, and the Center for Budapest Transport (BKK) is currently working on possible solutions, online news portal index.hu reported at the end of October.
