Hungarians’ Purchasing Power 40.6% Of EU Average
Per capita purchasing power in Hungary comes to the equivalent of 5,549 euros a year, or 40.6% of the European average, a survey by market research company GfK Hungária shows.

This is a slight improvement from 38.4% of the European average and 5,239 euros last year.

Regional differences inside Hungary have diminished in the past year, but they are still large and people in the north-west of the country are still wealthier than people living in eastern parts.

The per capita purchasing power of residents in Budapest is 125.5% of the Hungarian average while that of people living in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county in the northeast is only 74.8%.
