Orbán Defends Hungarians In UK
Hungary would like to ensure that the rights of Hungarians living in Great Britain are not harmed by Britain’s exit from the EU, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said after meeting UK Prime Minister Theresa May in London. He stressed that 150,000 Hungarian citizens depend on Britain or British-owned companies active in Hungary for their livelihood.

The British government’s position is that if the rights of Britons living in Europe are not curbed, then the rights of EU citizens living in Great Britain will not suffer, Orbán said.

He said they agreed that the question should be treated on a basis of reciprocity.

“They have their interests, which we must defend, therefore it is in our interest to see that the trade side of British-Hungarian relations remains free.”
