As Alphaville sang “Big in Japan” and whisky certainly is there, in fact - and apologies to any Scottish friends - the Japanese have been producing award-winning whisky in recent times to match what is produced North of the border.

With shows and presentations over the two days, there were lots to gleam and discover. I must admit, I don’t know too much about the finer points of whisky, though I did un earth that no other than our Hungarian friends are now also producing the smouldering spirit, which was accompanied by a small chocolate goes down a treat.

So as long as I didn’t hastily use up my whisky vouchers, I could find even more interesting nuggets about this fast growing drink, which seems a bit odd to say as it’s been around since almost time began.
