Harmonia Jazz Workshop, Budapest Jazz Club, 9 December
Calling all English speaking jazz lovers in Budapest to The Harmonia Jazz Workshop at the Budapest Jazz Club with a kick-off at 20.00 on Friday, 9th December 2016 proudly presents the sensational songstress from Australia Lily Dior who made a huge splash in London.

Discovered by the late great bassist Jackie Orszaczky in Australia as a teenager, performing a show she wrote and produced on the life of Billie Holiday, singer Lily Dior became a seminal member of Sydney’s hottest Soul/Funk outfit, ‘The Godmothers’, wowing audiences with her electric stage presence and powerful voice. “If you see only one local band this year, make sure you catch this shimmering and wonderful soul funk act” (Bruce Elder, SMH)

Awarded a grant in 2000, Lily travelled to New York to study with jazz legend Mark Murphy, and was invited to perform at one of his rare appearances. That same year, she was singled out by legendary arranger/pianist Dave Matthews to perform with The Manhattan Jazz Quintet, which included Bill Evans, Charnett Moffatt, Victor Lewis, and Lew Soloff, at Sydney Casino’s Lyric Theatre.

Returning to her roots, Lily has spent the last two years in London building her reputation and has already established herself as an in demand performer appearing regularly at iconic jazz venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, The 606 Club and Pizza Express Soho.

At the BJC she will be backed by an incredible trio of Gábor Cseke on piano, Péter Oláh on bass and György Jeszenszky on drums.

Entry fee is 2000 forints

The BJC is in the 13th district at Hollán Ernő utca 7

There is no compulsion to eat or drink but there is a well stocked bar with also cocktails made to order at non-extortionate prices.

For food we are pleased to report that the BJC Bistro offers several Hungarian and international food specialities to enhance your enjoyment of great jazz.
