Hungarians Make 8% More Foreign Trips In Third Quarter
Hungarians made 5.53 million trips abroad in the third quarter of 2016, 7.7% more than in the same period last year, a report by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) shows. Data show that 3.1 million trips were one-day trips and 2.35 million were for a longer time period.

Hungarians in total spent 18.35 million days travelling and the average trip lasted 3.3 days.

The total time spent travelling was up by 4.8% compared to the third quarter of 2015. Hungarians spent 250.75 billion forints on travelling abroad, 16% more than in the base period.

Around 82% of the spending was tied to tourist trips, 11% was spent on purchasing goods and services and 7.7% on work or studying.

Most of the foreign travel targeted Austria, 1.67 million of the total, followed by Slovakia with 946,000 trips, Romania with 528,000, Ukraine with 492,000 and Croatia with 467,000.
