Anti-Olympic Bid Campaign Thriving
As of Sunday afternoon some 35,000 signatures had been collected at the stands of the Momentum Movement for a referendum about Budapest hosting the 2024 Olympics, press officer Gergõ Papp told Index.

On Friday Index reported that 10,000 signatures were collected in one day.

The signature drive began on Thursday and organisers have 30 days to collect 138,000 signatures which would allow for a referendum to be held on whether Budapest should host the Olympics in 2024.

In response to news reports about the high number of signatures collected mayor István Tarlós urged “those who love Budapest” to refrain from adding their signatures to the collection at his press briefing on Friday.
