MNB Spends HUF 400mn On Paintings
The MNB has purchased a painting by Gyula Benczúr and six others by Tibor Csernus for a total of Ft 400 million, according to the EU public procurement gazette TED.

The Arrest of Louis XIV of France and his Family produced by Benczúr in 1872 was purchased from the Zurich based Violetta Trade for SFr 400,000.

The six paintings by Csernus, who died in 2007, were purchased from collector József Péter Kreinbacher for a total of €880,000.

The MNB announced in December that it had bought five artworks for a total of Ft 353 million as part of its Treasury Programme launched in 2014 with a €100 million budget.
